On May 5th, Rotary clubs across Israel came together for a special Bar Mitzvah celebration in Jerusalem, welcoming children from various cities for a day filled with meaning, care, and Jewish tradition.
The Rotary Club Tel Aviv “Elbrus” raised funds specifically to support a group of children from HaLicei HaYisraeli (The Israeli Lyceum). Accompanied by coordinator Ilana Kuchin, the children and their parents traveled from Kfar Hasidim to Jerusalem for a unique and memorable experience.
The day began with an organized breakfast (sandwiches, salad, water for everyone), followed by an extraordinary walking tour through the narrow alleyways of the Old City — including the narrowest street in Jerusalem. Participants watched a touching film about the restoration of Jewish life before the War of Independence, explored underground archaeological sites near the Western Wall, and viewed a 3D film about the history of the Temples.
At the Western Wall, the children listened to a prayer from a rabbi, some had the opportunity to put on tefillin, and all participants — from different Rotary clubs — joined together in singing Hatikvah.
The celebration concluded with sweet treats, meaningful gifts (each child received a siddur and tallit), and words of gratitude.
Special thanks go to the Rotary Club Tel Aviv “Elbrus” and to Daria Gurova, who led the initiative on behalf of the club, for their thoughtful planning, generosity, and heartfelt support.
It was a day that truly became a celebration — one the children and their families will not forget.
