Charity Film Screening

The charity lecture and film screening of Woody Allen's Match Point took place on March 28 at 19:00 at Desire Club. The film was shown in Russian.

This film presents a highly controversial perspective on life, where evil triumphs with just a drop of luck—much like in tennis, where a match can be decided by a single fortunate moment. Sometimes, a ball clips the top of the net, and for a fraction of a second, it could fall forward or backward. If luck is on your side, it falls forward, and you win. If not, you lose—just like in war.

The lecture and discussion were led by Roman Zhigun—film scholar, historian, lecturer at GAUGN, the Lyceum at the Financial University, and the Center for Pedagogical Mastery, as well as an expert for the Kultura TV channel and Vesti FM radio, and a scriptwriter for Maxim Katz’s YouTube channel.

All proceeds from the screening will be directed through the Rotary Fund to purchase medical equipment for a hospital in Ukraine. The full project description and a detailed equipment list can be found at: http://elbrus.club/global_project.

The list of medical equipment is extensive—ranging from laparoscopic devices to neonatal monitors, from gynecological chairs to operating tables. The total project cost is approximately $250,000, with over 30 Rotary clubs from Japan, Taiwan, Germany, Singapore, Poland, and other countries contributing to its implementation.
